A spiritual Experience

The on-duty nurse took the anxious young Army Major to the bedside.  "Your son is here," she said softly, to the old man lying there on the bed. She had to repeat the words several times before the patient's eyes opened.  Heavily sedated because of the pain of his heart attack, he dimly saw the young uniformed Major standing outside the oxygen tent.  He reached out his hand.  The Major wrapped his toughened fingers around the old man's limp ones, squeezing a message of love and encouragement. The nurse, observing the touching moments, brought a chair so that the Major could sit beside the bed. "Thank you Ma'am!" a polite acknowledgement followed.  All through the night, the young Major sat there in the poorly lit ward, holding the old man's hand and offering him words of love and strength. Occasionally, the nurse suggested that the officer move away and rest awhile.  He graciously refused. Whenever the nurse

A Judge and her friend on trial in her court

This is from a court room in Florida.. Two classmates who passed out from the same middle school (Nautilus Middle School) met in the court room after many years.. one was the judge and the other an accused.... Before pronouncing the judgement the lady  judge enquired...whether he was the same person who studied with her. This made the accused very emotional and he started to cry.. While expressing her pain in seeing him in this condition.. the judge also did not forget to introduce him as a good student and footballer during his school days... to the audience present there.. She also wished him good luck and said she wanted to see him lead a good life ahead in future.. The greatness of the lady judge lies in the fact that she didn't hesitate to recognize an old classmate or introduce him to everyone there.. In a world where money and power sometimes makes a person forget even his near relatives.. this is a perfect example of humbleness and wisdom.. to be learnt by the

*Why do Hindus worship idols when God told us he is everywhere?*

Once Swami Vivekananda visited King of Alwar in present day Rajasthan. The king in an attempt to mock idol worship told Swamiji, "I've no faith in idol worship. How can one worship stone, wood and metal? I believe people are in illusion and just wasting time!".  Swamiji smiled. He asked the king's assistant to take down the picture of the king that was hanging on the wall. Although confused, the assistant did so. Then Swamiji ordered him, "Spit on the picture!".
